tooth paste

Happy Monday All-

I have gone through one chemo cycle and my gums already hurt with my current toothpaste (Crest). I dont recall this side effect when I had chemo 6 years ago. So, yay, a new one! Does anyone recommend a specific brand or type of toothpaste to use during chemo?

Re: tooth paste

Biotene products - I didn't use the toothpaste but used the mouthwash. It was recommended by my oncologist's office

Re: tooth paste

If all else fails, you could try plain old sodium bicarbonate. Add a tiny bit of water to make a paste, or wet your brush and dip in the stuff. Add a drop of peppermint oil for taste if you like, but make sure you get the natural, edible kind.

Re: tooth paste

Hi Donna,
I switched to a baby's toothbrush. Or if you can't find a baby toothbrush, try to find "very soft". I hope you get relief!
