Er Negative and "Hormonal????"

Greetings to all, My oncologist mentioned retesting my lung met from 2006 and 2008 biopsies to see about adding a hormonal, as he put it, into my regimen of tykerb and herceptin. I am confused as I thought hormones were only for er positive tumors; however, he indicated that the test are more refined now. I will have another muga and see him in 2 weeks. Are there other hormones the tests may show? Or can er negative tumors have some er positive aspects? I would appreciate your thoughts. Ceesun

Re: Er Negative and "Hormonal????"

Hormone negative cancers can have some aspects initially or change outright to have moderate hormonal activity - these tumors do continue to mutate. If yours has, adding an AI or tamoxifen might just do the trick.

Ha!
I know cancer isn't funny...but when I saw this thread pop up...I thought...
Yes! Someone else is "hormonal"! I'm not alone in this craziness!
I was all excited to commiserate about mood swings and hot flashes...and wanting to strangle people who annoy me at the wrong moment...

Imagine my surprise when I realized this was a thread about your mets being "hormonal"....not YOU!

My slightly warped sense of humor strikes again!
