STUTTGART, GERMANY (UroToday.com) - The impact of microscopic versus macroscopic vascular invasion on metastasis-free survival was analyzed in 2,394 re-evaluated kidney cancer specimens from Graz (Austria). Vascular invasion was present in 22.8% of all specimens (16.6% macroscopic and 6.2% microscopic). At an average follow-up of 85 months, 25.4% of all patients had developed metastases.
