Vit C hurts Chemo Drugs...

Read this in my newspaper today...

Vit. C may blunt the effectiveness of some cancer drugs a new study shows. When used on human cancer cells treated with a form of Vit. C in lab dishes, chemotherapy drugs killed 30% to 70% fewer tumor cells than usual scientists from Memorial Sloan Kettering CC wrote in the journal Cancer Research, published today.

The scientists also implanted human cancer cells into mice and found that when they got Vit. C supplements two hours before chemo, the tumors grew quicker.

The Vit C didn't neutralize the effects of the chemotherapy drugs but it blunted their effects, said Sloan Kettering Dr. Mark Heaney.

The study tested five common chemo drugs: Gleevee, also know as imatinib, doxorubicin, cisplatin, methotrexate and vincristine.

I would also feel that it may be wise to not have fresh squeezed orange juice prior to treatment or other high sources of Vit. C
