Iodine and Thyroid

Yesterday, when I was talking to my oncologist, I asked him about checking my thyroid levels. He did not seem too concerned about them. It was interesting reading the articles and threads that had been posted about the thyroid and BC. It was really ironically that Terry put that post yesterday.

In August of 1996, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto disease. It is an autoimmunal disorder. My body attacked and destroyed my thyroid. I took synthroid for a year, and then the immunologists changed me to Armour. Armour either comes from a cow or pig.

In August of 2007, my thyroid medicine had to be decreased because it was making me anxious, and I was not sleeping but four or five hours a night. Six weeks later, the doctor had to up the dose again.

I was wondering how many of you have had thyroid problems prior to being diagnosed with BC?

Does anyone know how the locate the medicine with the iodine?

Amelia

I have a call into my regular doctor, and I am going to see if she will check my levels this afternoon. I have lost 15 pounds, so I believe my medicine may be too high again. If it is, then I will not be able to gain any weight; in fact, I will probably continue to lose weight.

Teacher,

After my dx I quickly lost 20 pounds, prior to starting chemo. It was as a result of stress. You may be experiencing some weight loss for this reason. Unfortunately for me, the weight all came back in time. I could actually stand to lose a good 30 or 40 pounds!

Hope you are doing well,

I had my thyroid removed when I was 16 due to an over-active thyroid. I have been on either synthroid or armour since then.
