New Member Requesting Help for her Mother
Maybe some others can respond to her post....this is in Elena's profile and she has sent me a few private messages about her Mother....I am trying to find out if her Mother is Her2 + and the ER PR status.....anyone, anywhere that can help...she is a frightened daughter with limited English

Another cry for help

i`ve heard from somebody about herceptin and i would like to know if its really good for this..
where can i find herceptin?? and wich other medicine is good for this ???we live in romania,and here the doctors are not very good.....i`m afraid,i don`t whant to lose my mother...please if you can help me with someting i will be thank you all my life....my mother have only 40 years old.....thanks for answering my email.....helen galati-romania

we whaiting the analizy from the hospital were is saing if is her2 pozitive or negative....if is pozitve the herceptin is good for her....but if is negative what is better for her?thanks

Bless you, Sheila, for trying to help.I wish I could. All I can think of is maybe someone out there either knows someone from Romania who can help, or knows someone at a university fluent in Romanian who would be willing to donate time to help. I will make some calls to our local colleges tomorrow, but I have a full work schedule, so bear with me. Maybe some of you could call colleges as well, and who knows, maybe your local tv stations and your own oncs. explaining the situation. It would be nice if we had linguistics "go to guys" in these types of situations. Keep us posted, Bill

I tried some internet translating tools.(Inter Tran) I tried to attach a HER2 page translated to Romanian. The web pages translated better than random medical terms, I think. Helen may already be using these tools, but if she isn't we could try to copy the URLs of our posts, translate and send. I don't think a lot of medical terms , abbreviations and accronyms will translate properly. BB

My oncologist is Romanian
I am going there today for an infusion so I will print the thread and take it to her today. I can't promise anything, but it sure seems serendipitous doesn't it? And she is a fabulous doctor she attended Yale and MD Anderson and no one says "neuropaty" and "trombocytapenia" as beautifully as she does.

?We do not understand: negativiti for Actina ? ,factor VIII? and CD 31?
? Mother receiving Chemotherapy in 2008?
? Does your mother take (medicine/capsules) pills now in 2008?
? HER2 testing results/analysis completed? in 2006? in 2008?
? HER2+ positive (yes) ? (or HER2 - negative)?
?-Estrogen (Hormone test) ? + positive?
?-Progesterone (Hormone test) ? + positive?
?Did your mother have more diagnostic tests in 2008 for cancer:
?Brain? Lungs? Liver? Lymph Nodes?

Jan13...MRI = no progression no reduction
Apr13...Progression. Stop Afinitor & Aromasin.
Apr13...Start Chemo: Taxol & Carboplatin.
Nov13...Scans & Pelvic 95+% Reduction. Nueropathy>Stop chemo start Fareston.
Jan14...PET scan = no progression stable.
May14...Pelvic > Bleeding & cramps. TMs up.
May14...PET scan = uterine progression :(
May14...Stop Fareston. Start Chemo: Xeloda.

I received this today...anyone with suggestions for Elena and her Mother?
we received the result of the analisys...is her2 negative.....what i must do now if is negative?you said to me that herceptin is good only for her2 positive....please help my mother......i whant to do someting quicly for her....i don`t whant that the cancer goes more....she is crying every day because she have pains...

Mixed response, shrinking internal nodes, progression skin mets after 3 treatments
12/6/10 Started Halaven (Eribulen) /Herceptin excellent results in 2 treatments
