Question symptoms?

I've been having pain in the left side of my neck (feels more like a pulled muscle)that goes from the base of my skull down to my shoulder. The pain also goes down to my left shoulder blade at times. It mostly hurts when I turn my head. I kept telling myself that it is a pulled muscle, but of course in the back of my mind I fear that it is metastasis. Has anybody had anything similar to this?

Sounds like a pulled muscle, but the rule I learned from the others on this board is: If it doesn't go away in two weeks, tell your oncologists. If you are concerned, tell your oncologist. For me, that means calling the oncology nurse at my doctor's office. I also learned on this board that, now that I am a survivor, I will probably think twice about every ache, pain, cough and skin rash I have. It's normal.

I am constantly having this type of pain. Mine even runs around my head, like a crown of thorns. I finally went to a pain specialist who ran MRI's of every inch of my body and found I have a degenerative disc pinching on the nerve in my neck. Could be a pinched nerve or something. The pain when you turn your head is a good indication it could be something to do with a compressed nerve. ..sherryg
