Prayers for those affected by the CA wildfires...

I read this in another post and copied and pasted it here. Not sure who else is affected as I know of others in CA, but not sure of their proximity to the wildfires, but please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Attendence for various reasons was off this year. We had 6 members attending and 4 other guests from the Bakersfield HER2 Sisterhood..

I did take some pictures, but we are currently under voluntary evacuation due to the fires here in San Diego. I had my daughter take a quick photographic inventory of the house and the she and Christine went over to the evacuation area.

We do not really expect any problems as we are quite a distance away from any open areas, but I stayed behind with my garden hoses ready.

I will update our status tomorrow.

Before I left for work today I took a moment for myself and prayed for everyone who may have been affected from this disaster. As I wiped away tears I whispered more prayers and have been thinking of it all morning. Guess you could say one more time: Great minds think alike!! I tried to call a girlfriend but they must have had to leave by now. Hopefully they are all safe, my stomach is in a knot! Sending prayers to all>>Believe51

The evacuation was lifted early this morning and we are back home safe and sound. The only damages we have is a coating of ashes on all of our cars and the smell of smoke which pervades everything.

Many though were not as fortunate. Perhaps the most striking example was a local news reporter reporting from the front of his home as the flames consumed it.

Things should return to "normal" shortly as we are receiving much needed help from fire departments of the surrounding states, the National Guard, and local Navy and Marine units. The Santa Anna winds have also decreased considerably and we can finally see the sun.

My prayers are with all who are effected by this horrific fire. My daughter in Bev Hills says though she is safe, the air is brown and smoky. They've been warned to stay indoors if possible. She ran to the market and home. My grandson's school are keeping the kids indoors.

Joe and Christine, glad the evacuation was lifted. Stay safe. And well. Know that thoughts are with you...

Christine and Joe, I was very pleased to hear you and your family were spared and not directly affected by these catastrophic fires.

I'm praying for those less fortunate as well as all those working towards putting the fires out.

This has been horrible....Chris's co-worker in Rancho Bernardo was evacuated from his home, and his home burned to the ground. There was nothing but rubble left of their home.

The co-worker's wife is a stage 4 cancer patient, (not BC ) and has very little mobility, and this has been extremely difficult for them.

Though we are about 90 miles away, the air smells smoky and thick. It's been good that the winds are dying down.

I remember how powerful the Santa Ana's were when I lived in LA in the 90s. At the time that I lived there, we didn't have fires. I can't even imagine how horrible it must be. Prayers to everyone in the path of this terrible event...

Thank goodness it seems that most of our members are safely out of the direct path. I pray for the winds to finally die down significantly in the coming days.
