Update

Hi Ladies,

Been keeping up but not posting for awhile mostly because I have been so emotional and don't make any sense. The last time I posted I believed I had developed lymphadema after my total hip replacement surgery. Not so. Yes good news, but what was next to come was not. All of my joints were swollen, crunchy and I was more tired and some days could barely move. It seems I have an arthritis that is inflammatory - as described by my rheumatologist this falls under an umbrella that something else will manifest itself ie ..Inflammatory bowel disease, psoriatic arthritis. I just wait and hope nothing else does manifest. I reluctantly started Enbrel (which helps) but because it lowers the immune system a side effect is lymphoma w/ my b.c diagnosis and the fact that 3 family members have had non-hodgkins lymphoma I am sure thats next. My emotions have run the gamit from sad, angry, thankful its not bc again but pissed because its a chronic disease. I know you all can relate one way or another!

I am coming to terms and when I wake up say thank you for giving me another day to help my children grow.

As always I continue to keep you and your family members in my prayers

Mary

Dear Mary

Do not be inhibited to come here and post while emotional. We don't mind. That's part of the reason we are here anyway - to support each other through thick and thin.

It helps all of us to help you and each other. Sorry you are crunchy - at least you are not lumpy (audience laughs now!)

Your new med will work and help out with your joints. Secondly, even though inflammation is not our friend, the associated immune response throughout the body to inflammation is not our friend either (even for cancer). Although the new drug you are taking has some noted risks, you can try to balance that out by eating right and getting some exercise. If walking is not in the cards, yoga certainly is great for the joints and it is peaceful and destresses too.

I will be keeping you in my thoughts.

Love and a hug to you.

Mary,

I can certainly understand you emotions. Any inflammation is hard to deal with. Your doctor is on board and has prescribed some good medication for your arthritis. Please just try and remain positive. Think about today and not about what may happen. I will keep you in my prayers
