Wink When do you start

feeeling like yourself again? I have been off of herceptin for 3 weeks now and I still feel fatigued, when I do my walking the next day I am totally wiped out. I am starting a workout every monday and wed. I am kind of hesitant because of how i feel after just walking. Has anyone out there been off of herceptin for a while that can tell me when I will start feeling like I did before bc.
Thanks

It took me about 3 or 4 months. I walked all through Herceptin but was a runner before. I just went back to running 4 weeks ago as I just couldn't really do it before. Theoretically, it takes about 6 months for the Herceptin to be out of your body due to its half-life.

Hang in there. It gets better and better. Part of your fatigue also comes from the "divorce" from the cancer center syndrome too. It kinda puts you in the dumps too.

Keep walking - 5-6 hours of walking a week has been equated to a 21% to 44% decrease in recurrence rate via a well controlled study (more if er/pr neg and less if er/pr+). None the less, its one thing you can do for yourself and its good for other possible ailments down the road (ie: heart troubles).

Thanks so much for the question, Theresa AND thanks so much for the answer, Becky! I've been off course walking for about a week now and don't feel so good as before. Let "things" get in the way! I'm inspired to get up and out the door and get "me" back! I had wondered so often about when I'd "feel like me" again after stopping Herceptin and just to have a target time helps so much. I was a bit dissappointed Friday to learn that even though it will have been a year May 5, I won't be taken off yet. But my tumor count isn't down enough yet and I do agree it is best! I just have to adjust in my head for the change. Sometimes I spend hours looking for the me of yesterday, and finally discover that she is gone and replaced by a milder, more determined, changed kinda girl who I like much better. Love to all, ma
