Great Sleeves for Lymphedema Web Site
I found this site today when I went for my Herceptin Rx....there was a card on the bulletin board...Sandy...these might be an accessory for the green shoes!!!

 Lymphedema is a chronic condition that causes excess fluid to collect in tissue and produce swelling. In breast cancer survivors the swelling can occur in the arm or hand because the lymphatic system has been compromised by surgery or radiation. Its an unattractive and painful reminder of having breast cancer that never goes away.
Robin Miller, 23, and Rachel Levin, 36, are young breast cancer survivors that developed lymphedema after their breast cancer treatment. They were required to wear an uncomfortable, beige orthopedic-looking sleeve. They decided that there had to be a better solution for the look and feel of the sleeves they would have to wear. They approached Kristin Dudley, a Drexel fashion design graduate, with the idea of creating fashionable compression garments that would bring together form and function.
These three friends have made it their mission to help breast cancer survivors manage their lymphedema in a fashionable way, and inspire them to feel confident and attractive with their company called LympheDIVAs. The armsleeves are made of high-tech fibers and come in fashionable colors and designs.
"The look and style of the sleeves has remained the same for over 30 years" said Rachel Levin. "There is absolutely no reason it can't look stylish and still be an effective medical device"

How cool!
I'm not having any issues but how great to know the myriad of resources out there.
My hubby has lymphedema in his lower legs. Had it for over 10 years undiagnosed and untreated. MLD and compression brought 10+ years of swelling under control in a matter of 3 short weeks. He stills wears compression to the knee most of the time and that keeps it in check. Wonder if they'd make legs ones in sports teams colors. He'd probably love that. LOL!

Although I have not had lympedema, I always wear a sleeve when flying...several of us on the board do, my onc. recommends it...there was alot of posts a while back on this...they are even good when traveling long distance, or standing where you are unable to keep your arm movable & not hanging down.

Sheila thanks for the thought. I am aware they were available in colors. I did not see a green one here but have seen them in other brands when my specialist orders mine. This is getting to be even more funny than I thought as now people are on the look out for me. Well, might as well have some fun. My brother and his girl friend are coming to visit me this week and I just know I will never hear the end of green!! I still like the color and look forward to having some fun with it on St. Patrick's day. I also have some Mardi Gras beads that are green now how cool is that? hugs, Sandy

Let's see, Florida, mardi gras beads, spring break....we do hope you are behaving yourself! I remember going to Florida one time, not knowing it was spring break...I brought home some of the beads for my kids...they gave them to you when you bought a t shirt....my kids had a hey day with me....they wanted to know how I aquired them....I guess flashing is the usual way...that was in my pre BC days...but they truly were given to me....my kids still laugh about their Mom bringing home beads from Spring Break...

Oh its not spring break here until next month and I will be gone at that time. I have about 70 strings of beads and I caught them when they were thrown from the parade. I don't have anything to flash these days. When I go shopping with my best friend who I met in support and a survivor (she had reconstruction) she forgets I don't have any cleavage and so she is looking at all these low neck tops and says, "you should get this one". We do have lots of fun when we do go shopping. hugs, Sandy

2018 Mammo all clear, still NED!

Awesome sleeves ! I work in retail,specifically,Ladies "Better" Sportswear...yathink I could start a fashion trend if I wore one!???
Bravo to these smart ladies for appealing to the Fashion hound in us all.
