Question Question for Joe: Tykerb, pending approval?

Hi Joe,

I am confused...

I heard (by one of nurses) that Tykerb won't be approved for general use (or rather, for the public) for months & months. Joe, how did you know that Tykerb will get approved in March? By a health professional or just a regular civilian?

Thanks.

JoJo,

Glad to hear from you again. Tykerb is up for FDA approval for use by metastatic stage IV bc patients and should be approved within the next 6 weeks.

I believe that you will qualify.

Warmest Regards
Joe

Joe, one other question. Will it be approved for ALL Stage IV women or do you have to have active disease. I am currently NED but would like to get on it with Herceptin. Are there going to be catches? What"s the holdup on the approval? I had heard that it was suppose to be released at the beginning of February, that's what my Oncologist thought also...sherryg683

Sherry,
The FDA is required to act by Mid-March, but approval can come at any time. All stage IV patients should be eligable but of course it would be up to your oncologist.

Regards
Joe
