Radiation & Tram Flap Difficulties

I'm about to undergo 6 weeks of radiation... and am worried about my flap. I have heard the radiation can cause problems ????

Has anyone experienced this?

Also, I have a nagging pain where my donor site was taken (stomach muscle) I"m six weeks out - is this normal?

Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Pain or pulling?

Hi Jenna,

I had my TRAM flap after radiation, so I can't offer advise on your situation. I did experience a stiff or pulling feeling in my abdomen for some time (several months) after the TRAM surgery. In fact, I still experience this sensation on occassion 5 years later. If it's really painful, I would give your plastic surgeon a jingle...just to confirm everything is alright.

Hope you get to feeling better!
