New hope against melanoma. Lani, did you see this?
In this morning's newspaper, Nov 10, 2006, Dr. Jason Chesney from J.G.Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, Ky. reported that then patients with advanced melanoma were given a drug combination to knock out their T-regulatory cells, tumors shrank or remained stable in five of seven participants. Dr. Anna Pavlick, director of the melanoma program at New York University Medical Center, not involved in the above study, commented that the new mechanism is very hopeful and demonstrated the treatment is similar to having permanent chemotherapy, by inducing your own immune system to stick around and keep cancer from growing.
Lani, you are the keeper of new advances in bc treatment. You probably have seen this already. Don't you think that this same mechanism should work for bc patients too?
