Smile Brain MRI - post surgery

Dear Friends -
After the good news from Tracy's brain MRI, I am pleased to also report a good outcome.
This was my first followup post surgery, which took place on Feb. 9 to clean up the area of an old brain tumor (a met). The good news was met with relief - even though the surgery showed that cancer was not the reason for the suspicious enhancement on my Jan. scan. No new lesions.

What I do have is a fluid pocket that has formed at the site of the craniectomy, which has the fancy name of "pseudomeningocele." My docs say this not due to any progression of the cancer, but is a "post surgical change" that is not at all unusual.

I have to wait to hear from my brain surgeon whether he wants to see me about this. My appointment today was with my radiation oncologist who was in charge of my Gamma Knife over a year ago.

The fluid is not dangerous to my brain as it is in the area where a piece of bone was removed at the lower back of my skull which left a small cavity that can fill with this fluid in the lining of my brain. This area does not hurt or really bother me otherwise.

Just more detail if you are interested.

Steph;

That is wonderful news. Until now I wasn't really sure it was possible to overcome brain mets. I know about Christine but thought that might be an oddity....now I know it truly is possible. Fantastic....for you and for all of us. Thank you for posting this marvelous news!!

Steph,

That is such great news. Wish we could go celebrate! I will drink a special toast to you when I have my glass of red wine tonight! Keep doing whatever it is you are doing. Love Kim

P.S. my next MRI is in May, can't believe how fast 3 months goes by.
