Smile IBC Question

Hi all, has anyone actually mutated and developed IBC (Inflammatory) while on Herceptin when they had just a common form of BC in the beginning. I know status can change at any time.

Lyn,

I would have to say Yes to your question. In my case, I had regular BC (not inflammatory) to begin with. Then after recurrence in 2004 to two more ancillary lymph nodes, it has stayed strictly in my skin.

In order to get into this lapatinib trial, I had to qualify as now having relapsed or refractory inflammatory BC. I qualified. So, I must be "reclassified" as now having HER2+++ inflammatory BC.

Hope this helps.

God Bless, Cindi

Thanks for that, it gives me something to research, we definately are a weird bunch, or should I say unique.

Thanks again Cindi, what were your symptoms for your IBC? The type I have now is not agressive because iZ have been treating it agressively for the last 12 months and can't budge it, but like you say it remains in the skin and tissue with no obvious lump and only detected by biopsy, my skin is red from radiation but no other obvious signs? my CA 15-3 was 9 so I know not to bother with that one anymore, I have always known that it wasn't accurate for me but I knew there was something going on when it kept changing, I would have to be the only BC patient with a CA 15-3 never to have gone above 22.
