Question

Does anyone know if having "possible lympathic involvement" on their path report means that the bc has traveled, or if it means a recurrance is pending?
I had lumpectomy in 7/05, 1.5 cm and .4 cm removed. Sentinal node negative, both tumors Er- Pr- and Her2 +++. Finished 4 cycles of A/C and now on Taxol #9 of 12. Started herceptin #4 late due to Muga scan going from 58% to 46% after A/C. At retest before herceptin was 52%, Onc believes I won't be able to finish the year of herceptin due to marginal muga! Started to take CO Q10 as advised by this site and okayed by onc.
Anyone else have a path report like this? Very worried about about going from Stage 1 to Stage IV quickly. Have fam history with mother dieing from bc. I'm 46 years old, premenuposal.
Thanks for the help.

What it means is that in the tissue surrounding the tumor where the lymphatic vessels are - they looked at these vessels and may have seen a cancer cell or two within those vessels.

You can get the word probable explained better. Ask your onco to talk to the pathologist who can always go back and look at your slides.

Secondly, you had no nodes involved. I did and mine said "extensive" involvement (well, duh - it went from the vessels to the node). You had/having chemo, herceptin and radiation. This is everything that's done to us who had extensive involvement and nodes. You should be fine and are in great shape (in regard to having no nodes involved either). And I know people with extensive nodes involved who have never had a recurrence.

I always try to remind myself that you hear about the worst of cases and the women who die. You never here about the ones that everything is okay and live because its boring and not gossip fodder.

Warmest regards

Becky
