Taxatere

I will be having chemotherapy in the near future and wonder what anyone knows about taxatere, and what side effects they might have had after treatment?
PS.
I am new to this forum stuff so not sure what I am doing.

I had Taxol instead of Taxotere (they are in the same family, I think). Taxol gave me some aches in my muscles and joints. My taste buds returned a bit and I did have some neuropathy in my hands, but it wasn't major and everything returned to normal when I was done.

God Bless,
Cindi.

I had very little side effects with taxotere (other than the usual hair loss and blood count drop). My doctor, however always checked for feet swelling.

I am also currently on taxotere and have very little side effects. Hair loss, nausea and low blood counts are the usual side effects.

I was on Taxotere with Carboplatin and Herceptin. I did notice some swelling, particularly in my hands and face. It did go away after treatment. Good luck!

taxotere

Following 4xAC the 4 taxotere with herceptin was alot easier for me. My head wasn't as foggy and I was able to take a lot less of the anti nausea meds. My hair started to grow back while on taxotere as well.

Best of luck

I took taxotere with carboplatin on a weekly basic and I didn't loose my hair that way. Patty H

face swelling can be a result of decadron, not taxotere.

I'm also on taxotere with carboplatin and herceptin. I do not have neuropathy, but have been taking B6 and glutamine. I had a strange reaction where my hands turned purple and peeled. This started 48 hours after the infusion and lessened in a week. I checked with my onc, who told me it is a side effect for less than 1% of patients getting taxotere. I do have a great deal of nausea and fatigue, but that is probably the carbo, if not the whole cocktail.
Good luck!

Smile taxatere

Hi,I finished taxatere last December. My eyes watered,I had ulcers on the sides of my tongue and my finger nails peeled off layers.I know that sounds bad but .My eyes stopped watering after treatment.I bought Kanka at wal-mart and put on both sides of my tongue. It really helped it.My finger nails got back normal after treatment. They had told me they could come completely off but didn't.I wish you the best.
