higher then normal potassium

I have had bc for 6 years with a recurrence in my bones. I have been having an infusion of Zometa for a year and on Femera for almost that long.
My onc. just called and wants me to have another blood test because the one from Fri. showed a high level of potassium. Has this happen to anyone else or do you know anything that can help me?

How high is it? With BC it is better to have it high then low. Too high is as bad as too low. If your doc is concern then it must be too high. Could be in the testing and it should be o.k. next time. Have had my share of low potassium and its not fun. Right now it is high but good at this time. hugs, Sandy

Dear Darbi,

Don't worry about isolated results from blood tests. There is a margin of error associated with this testing and look for patterns. Potassium, I wouldn't be concerned at this point.

FYI: High levels may be due to eating potassium high foods (such as bananas) or even from taking Advil or beta-blockers. It may be a resut from tissue injury, including cancer cells.
Take care,
Al
