I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner to this topic, but I hope those of you who haven't read part 1 it will find it and read it first. I am amazed at how many posts there are a day! It's wonderful. Here goes Part 2, Guided imagry:
Two things are necessary for guided imagry to be of most value in healing. They are total relaxation and calm, even, breathing. Lie down or sit in a recliner so that there is the least amount of stress and strain upon your body. Become aware of any tenseness anywhere in your body, starting first with your jaw, It is surprising how often we find that our jaws are tense. In fact, anytime during your waking hours concentrate for a brief moment and deliberately slow your breathing and relax your jaw. Just that simple exercise will help you better cope with whatever you are facing or doing.
It is important for the person doing the tape, whether it is yourself or someone else, to read in a calm, soothing, slow voice, being melodious in the delivery, not monotonous, but slow and even, repeating some of the words, like "down...down...down" in a downward scale. Pitch the voice a little lower than usual.
