Being on observation arm of HERA, i am to receive an offer of Herceptin. I wonder how long they will offer it for? Also, if i take up the offer now, will it work if I need it for mets? Decisions, decisions.
Any thoughts?
Christine

Christine,
If they offer it to take it! I really don't think they know how long after it still works. I would push to get it and i bet it will help!

I would say go for it. Maybe having it later means that you won't get the 46% reduction in recurrence, but if you wait your cancer might come back and you would need chemo.

Hi Christine. I don't know what HERA is, but I have mets and am on Herceptin. In Australia, there doesn't appear to be any restriction as to how long one can have it for. My oncologist originally said I could be on it for years.

I say take it now and hopefully you won't have to worry about mets! Do every thing you can not to get mets!
