My tumor was graded II/III and my HER-2 FISH result was "amplified, 2.2."

After reading some posts, I wondered if there's a correlation between the two, whether they're the same thing but in less detail or what. I know that grade speaks to aggressiveness and general cancer cell characteristics and HER-2 is a particular gene that controls a particular cell receptor that instructs the cell to reproduce (if I got that right--if not, someone please correct me as I want to know this stuff).

Does anyone know the specific differences between the two, assuming they are different?

Thanks!

I don't think they are related. My tumor grade is 2 but FISH is 9.4.

I believe Tumor Grade & Her2 Recepetor Status are independent of one another. Her2+ tumors are typically high grade, but the opposite isn't necessarily true.
I think...

My tumor grade was 3, but other things like p53 and Ki67 come into play as well besides the FISH (can't remember my #, but will reread my path. report), like Bloom-Richardson score, etc. I think, as Jessica says, these are independent factors, but interrelated. Best to all. Vicki Z
