Looks like NED is out thWhich drugs for skin mets?

Hi all, I have had skin mets before, first time Xeloda got rid of it on my checst, but while treating a lump on my neck with Xeloda and Herceptin another skin mets came up behind my ear down my neck, the lump and rash both went with Navelbine and Herceptin, now after all of this and just having finished Herceptin/Taxol/Carboplatin and radiation to that area I have a reddish/purple rash, itchy and thick skin, so not much chance of it not being that, so thought I would ask for help in advance.

Lyn, ask about trying Navelbine again. I took it again for the second time, and had a very good response, again. My onc said if it's been more than a year since last having a chemo they will sometimes repeat it if a good response was achieved the first time. If your onc doesn't think that's a good idea, my friend here who's battling IBC which has mainfested as a rash on the breast is having a good response with Taxotere/Herceptin. Just 2 ideas off the top of my head this morning as I'm rushing to get to tx and will be away from my computer all day. Will do some sleuthinng on-line in the next few days as I have time...will post results here rather than as "new topics", ok? Talk to you soon.

Have you/will it be biopsied. How about Miltex - i cannot remember if you have had that.I will keep searching the lists also for other options.

Lyn I have had Herceptin/Taxol and Carboplatin twice within the year for skin mets. My oncologist says as long as it keeps working will use it. I have used the Miltex and I believed it worked however, I was treating a large area on my chest and got badly burned from it. Went to wound care as the doctor was worrried about infection. It causes the skin to dry out and then it cracks. This is a systemic disease because it is in the lympathics so Miltex is only a topical. Maybe worth a try if your area is small. Each time I have gone back into treatment I have had the area biopsed. Don't know about the next time as the spots occur in the same place at end of mastectomy scar. I hope this helps. Hugs, Sandy

Thanks for that, had biopsy this morning, I still recon the needle they put in to numb it hurts more than the biopsy. Will get result probably when stitches come out on 31st, also asked to do HER2 test again just to make sure nothing has gone a miss. Haven't tried the M so I will ask, hoping it is nothing but of course nothing has been simple with me.

Thanks Sandy, I have just come off the Herceptin/Taxol/Carbo had 26 weekly doses and I think it got worse but at the same time had a lot of radiation to that area makes you wonder how anything can live in our bodies with the junk we leglly put through it.
