Hello courageous women. I'm wondering if some of you who are old hands at this might know the answer.

I started Herceptin 6 weeks ago, on a weekly basis. It seems I've been getting irritation/shortness of breath right after getting the Herceptin, and that the irritation might be progressing after each treatment. Wondering if any of you all had that and what you did.

I'm scheduled for my first 3-week dose next week so a little worried. Of course, I'll ask my doctor, but you all have been so much more helpful than most of the doctors I see. THANKS

I've had that a couple times... I get mine every 3 weeks. When I asked my nurse about it she thought she dripped it a little fast... since we adjusted the time I haven't had the shortness of breath. The other thing is the times I was getting shortness of breath and wheezing were during and right after radiation to the breast area. Good luck, Alicia

Hi Girls,
I am so glad to know this is not uncommon. I also have mild asthma and what feels like an inflammation around my lungs for 2-3 days after my weekly herceptin...then it goes away.
Tylenol also helps.
