Hi all. This is my first time posting on the new site. I hope I get it right! So many new buttons. ( What is the difference between guided mode and normal mode).

Anyway, here is my question....I had to have a brain MRI today and have a hairpiece on the top of my head. I have lost a lot of hair from chemo. The hairpiece is woven into my remaining hair and there are small beads clipping it to the hair. The beads are copper, not metal. But no one knew at the facility what to do with this, so I had to go and have it removed, have the scan, and then have it put back on.

Anybody have any experience with this?

For what it helps....

When my mom had her mri a few weeks ago, they had to be sure that all forms of foreign objects were removed from her body, including any sort of dental partials that are not made of metal of any kind.

I may be a bit unclear on your question, however. Are you asking why they would ask you to remove the copper?

Angel hugs,
Lindsey

Yes, I was wondering if anyone had a hairpiece woven in and was able to have an MRI without having to remove it. The lady at the facility said copper was probably safe but we didn't want to take a chance.
