To Rick - re RFA

When my cancer first spread to my liver, my onc. told me that they did not perform surgery when it was from breast cancer, since breast cancer can leave cells spread around like little finger prints (her explanation) and to perform liver surgery was quite drastic when it could spread again. In my case, my liver mets had remained in the same area for 1 1/2 yrs without spreading anywhere else. So I thought about it for awhile and spoke to three different surgeons and got three different opinions to add to the confusion. One wanted to do regular surgery and cut the tumor out, the second would not touch it, the third was my charm. He thought I was a good candidate for the RFA or actually cutting the tumor out. I felt very comfortable with him and chose to go ahead a have it done. I really believe that this might be an option for liver cancer up the road as they study it closer. I am not sure though if they would consider the RFA if the cancer is in more then one area.It might be something worth checking into. If you have any other questions, pls do not hesitate to ask me.
