I was 50 the first time around and the chemo put me into menopause but I came out of it 4 months after treatments ended. The second time around at 51 I wasn't able to come back out. Now at almost 54 years of age I'm still having major hotflashes. I have tried herbs, 3 different meds from my Dr.s megace, exfexor and belamines. Non seem to work well. The exfexor a mild anti depressent seems to keep them down to 6 to 10 in a 24 hour period. What I'm wondering, will this ever be over. I told my Dr. that I have made it through all these different chemos but I think it's the menopause that is going to kill me. They come on so strong they make me sick at my stomach and angry. Anyone else having this problem. Patty H

I am 57 and still have them. I blame them on chemo. I know of women who still have them and they are in their 60's!! I think everyone is different. I have talked to lots of women in chemo and they all have them and they last for months after chemo is done. I think mine are better since taking the flax see oil and low fat cottage cheese. Might want to try the flax seed. Hugs, Sandy

Hi Patty: Sorry you are in such discomfort from your hot flashes. I also have them although not as often as you. I find that I experience them mostly at night and only occasionally during the day. I know this sounds crazy but I have found it really helps me...When you feel a hot flash comming on just relax and breath deeply and slowly. I think of it almost like when I was in labor and trying to get through another contraction. It doesn't stop the hot flashes but at least for me it shortens them and they are less intense. The best thing about this technique is that it is totally drug free. Hope this helps. Take Care, Linda
