zoladex or lupron??

Dx w/ stage 3b bc, er/pr+, her2+++ at age 35.

Now 36 and just got first period, after 1 long year (thanks to chemo!).

Will take monthly shot, either zoladex or lupron, to put my ovaries to "sleep".

Don't know any difference between these shots. Any info on them appreciated! Hugs

I'm not sure the actual difference between these. I was told by someone one time that the needle size was different. Lupron was the smaller one and was the one my onc had recommended. It is a once every 3 month shot instead of monthly. This all sounded good to me. I've been on it for 6 months now along with arimidex.

I'm having hot flashes, dry nails and hair. I'm not sure which is causing what. All are tolerable and I have stayed NED for 6 months now!

My partner Rachel just recently started Lupron shots--she's had two monthly injections. She hasn't had ANY effects from then yet. But I thought I would tell you, at least, that the shots themselves (given to her near her hip area) seem to be relatively painless. I've heard/read that Zoladex shots might be a little harder to take...

Taking zoladex, after all.

Chemo nurses told me that zoladex might be just a little stronger than lupron.

Your tummy has to be numb by injection first, then zoladex, only that area for injections.

Lupron can be administered on a hip or leg or arm, I think...
