Because I am new to herceptin (just since end of February), I have been trying to do a lot of reading on the drug. My onc seems to feel I should go off it after a year. I have read a few success storys and these ladies are still on it years later. I am interested in your base of knowledge and what you've been told by your oncs. I already know I will go for a second opinion before he wants to "pull" the plug on the drug!

Hi Cathy-
(I wrote a more lengthy response on your other post) but I'm just wondering what your onc's rationale is for stopping Herceptin after a year, especially if you are Stage IV?Assuming that TCH will get you to NED, why would he recommend that you stop the Herceptin? Many women here have continued on Herceptin for months, even years (read Ginger Empey's story).I plan to stay on Herceptin as long as they continue to offer it to me!
You'll find lots of helpful, encouraging, supportive advice here!
Take good care!
