Hey Beth,

Thank you for your kind words. I'm not sure why your doctor has not permitted you to go on tamoxifen and herceptin. I have provided below a cross-link to a recent Yale in vitro study showing that herceptin and tamoxifen may be "synergistic" together. I believe that concurrent use of Herceptin and tamoxifen is rather common.

As noted above, there is one school of thought that HER-2 positive patients show resistance to tamoxifen. See studies provided at www.her2status.com. However, I have also read other articles that suggest that Herceptin, in tandem with tamoxifen, may help slow down HER-2 positive cancer resistance to tamoxifen.

Have you discussed the use of an aromatase inhibitor with your doctor? Such use would be predicated upon the creation of menopause through surgery or drugs.
