I have a ? There is alot of talk now about the new study about excersise and breast cancer. They did this study starting 1980's til 90's.They state that you can decrease the recurrence of breast cancer by 54% by walking 3 hours a week. Now, my ? is, are they talking about all other cancers not her2positive cancer, or did they even know this girls were her2 postive back in the 80's? I wonder if anyone can answer that. What do you all think?

Well, tongue in cheek, I use to do more than that getting to work and up hill in the mornings, but then again, no family history, I had my first child when young, didn't smoke didn't drink and couldn't win an argument but oh lucky me I came up a winner in the cancer stakes. I told my niece I had more chance of getting breast cancer than winning lotto, I definately didn't win lotto.

I have done a lot of research and reading over the last two years since my original dx. I also adopted a more healthy lifestyle between original dx and mets. I did it to gain control again, not because of the latest headlines about what "might" prevent BC. In my research, I found that often headlines are created that are very misleading. Exercise and proper weight are important as prevention for a certain segment of the bc population-namely post-menapausel (sorry it's spelled wrong-chemo brain) women who are er+.
The bottom line is: exercise because it make you feel good about you. Don't put added stress on yourself if you can't do it. Sometimes you just won't feel good enough. You aren't killing yourself if you don't.

It seems every day we learn of something new to prevent cancer, and by the time we have made it part of our regime, it changes again. My Mom was diagnosed with BC in the 80's, they did not test for Her2 then, she has beaten all odds. As far as exercise goes, I do it to keep the weight off, bought my own treadmill, and work our daily if I feel like it...the best part is, I do it in my PJ's in the morning...don't even have to get dressed!!! Just hope no one is looking in the windows...nightie and tennies...ugggghhh what a sight!

I stopped paying attention to statistics a long time ago. According to them, I shouldn't have gotten breast cancer, but since I did, I shouldn't be here, cause I've done everything possible to cause it (according to the new statistics). hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I'm just going to live my life and pooh pooh the numbers.
