Ya\'ll scared me into it, MRI scheduled

After reading everyones posts I asked if I needed an MRI or if the petscans would show a tumor. The doc said the MRI shows it much clearer than a petscan. If I wanted one, he would schedule one for me. I said yes. I want to know and then part of me is affraid to know. So I'm scheduled to have one on May 25.

I admit, it's a little scary, but I do think it's better to know sooner rather than later as treatment options aren't as limited if brain mets are caught early and small in number and size. This I've learned from the group here, and I bless the day I found this site!
You'll be glad you got the scan, just try not to worry unproductively between now and then. I used the time to do more research on "what if" so I'd be prepared to take action, but I also did a lot of just loafing around; resting up as I called it!

Shoot, we're all somewhat scared. If not of results, of the tests themselves, scared we'll die, scared we'll live with horrible side effects...etc. But I think anything to do with the brain IS scary. It's the center of our consciousness; it's the "me" in all of us. Good for you, though, for scheduling the test. As we all know, the sooner we can start a fight, the sooner we'll win.

Good for you. Yes it is scary, but all of these scans are giving us an opportunity to catch the disease earlier so that we can begin treatment and live longer.

Please have scans. My tumor markers came back normal. Anyone that has read this board for a while knows that this happens and markers are not a true indicator! I had routine scans every 3 mos and this time MRI shows tumor is getting bigger and two new ones have appeared. Yes, I am scared, but then was always scared that the one that would not go completely away would start again....I look at it this way, the tumor is much smaller than when first discovered backi in Sept 2002, and we have a head start on things.
Take care, try not to fret too much and just think of the scans as being another life prolonging treatment. The sooner seen the sooner treated.
