I just started on Navelbine and Herceptine. I am wondering if there will be hair loss. I have been told that it may thin. What has been others experience?

I have been on Navelbine/Herceptin since last Sept. I was told that few women lose their hair. But my thinned so badly, I had to shave it. It started growing back as soon as I swithched from weekly to bi-weekly treatments.

Love and light,

Lisa

Lisa, Just as I thought, frankly if it has the thin cancer, I would rather be bald. I've done that already and it wasn't so bad. I have a nice wig and several cute hats. I can easily go back to that. What is your situation? I have just recently been dx with met to the bone and had the first treatment on Wed. I am ER-Her2 3+++. My original dx was in July 2002. How are you doing?

Although I am probably in the minority, my hair actually got thicker and I have been on Navelbine/Herceptin 3 weeks on and 1 week off since last June.

I had surgery May 2003 to remove single nodule from my left lung (spread of breast cancer). Then I was on Navalbine and Herceptin for the next 6 months; both drugs once per week.

I have fairly thick hair to begin with so it might not have seemed so bad to me. I did experience some thinning but I'm sure I was the only one who knew it. I tried to take it easy on my hair by only washing it when I really had to and trying not to abuse it too much with hot rollers or hairdryers. I kept my style pretty short. I had lost ALL my hair first time around with four rounds of AC.

Since January 2004 I am Herceptin only every 3 weeks. At this moment NED!

Beverly,
I had Navelbine/Herceptin for 6 months in 2001 and experienced hair thinning, plus eyebrow and eyelash thinning. I just started Navelbine again, for another 6 months probably, but have only been on it, along with Herceptin, for 1 month. So far, eyelash and eyebrows are starting to thin, haven't noticed much thinning of the hair yet.
Love, Lolly

I told my husband after my first 8 treatments of chemo were over that I would have my eyebrows tattooed if I ever had chemo again. I still would like to do that but now I am afraid to because I have already started the Navelbine/Herceptin and worry about possible infection. Of course eyebrows are not worth an infection but they are already pretty thin from the 5 taxoteres that I had. I lost all the head hair on day 16 with AC previously so I have already been there done that. Any thoughts on the tatto of eyebrows?
