Good afternoon -
gorgeous weather here, and that always helps lift one's spirits.
I went to the other board a few days ago to post to you.
You will find having a port will make things much easier. You will be having the Herceptin/Navelbine weekly for as long as needed to knock out the new tumors. Then, like many of us, you might go on the every-three-week routine for taking your maintenance Herceptin. This makes it a lot easier to travel out of your locale and not worry about getting your infusions. I am inclined to think that your med onc will want to watch you closely for a while and would rather you not get treated someplace else. They will want to make sure the port is properly healed and any risk of infection has subsided. Especially if it is that difficult to access a vein.
By all means take short trips if you feel well enough, and the weather is tolerable. A little fresh air can do us all some good!
