I am stage I and in a study for Herceptin. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node. My tumor was 1.2cm invasive HER2+++ and ER/PR+ no nodes. The study is Phase III BCIRG006 Adjuvant Breast Cancer HER2+. There are links on this sight to help you find a study. I'm hoping Herceptin is the magic bullet to fight recurrence. Best of luck to you.

The BCIRG 006 study was closed for enrollment in March of this year. Just thought I'd let you know. You might want to look at NSABP-31 or NCCTG-N9831 at clinicaltrials.gov

or
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/action/GetStudy
then type in her2

Anyone have a pathology read Her2 positive 2-3+? The Herceptin trails will not take you unless you are 3+ but my pathology was 2-3+. Looks like I will need a second opinion on the pathology report.

Also, is the dosage of Herceptin any less for early stage disease than Herceptin in the metastatic setting? If so, maybe the cardiac risks for early stage are a bit less than that reported for metastatic disease.

Thanks,
Katie

Just wanted to add that the pathologist could not do FISH on my tumor because she said I did not have enough specimen to do the test and only IHC testing could be performed. So has anyone done Herceptin early stage for 2-3+ by IHC?

Mine was 3+ so I didn't need to get a 2nd opinion but it wouldn't be a bad idea for you especially if it is keeping you out of a trial.

Herceptin dosages are the same!

Good Luck!
