Does a pet scan routinely include images of the head/brain (MRI)?

I just had my first PET this spring to confirm recurrence, and they didn't do the brain, just from the neck down. I had a separate Brain MRI.
Love, Lolly

I asked my onco the same thing! I have routine pet scans every 6 months and he said No. So now I have yearly brain MRI's to be sure everything is ok! Hope this helps.

A PET of the brain is not a good picture. An MRI is a better choice. This will be done seperately.

Carlye,
How long have you been getting pets every 6 months? What stage are you and when were you dx? I would like to get pets every 6 months if my insurance will pay for them that often. I've had 2 now. One in feb. and one 2 weeks ago. So far so good. I know in 6 months i will be wanting another, esp. since they are so easy to do!

You are all fortunate to be able to get PET scans done. I was told I would never have one done because it would light up like a light bulb. I have so much scar tissue. Hugs, Sandy
