Interesting MRI News from my Nursing Journal

It's standard procedure to screen our patients for the presence of metal objects, such as jewelry and implanted devices, before an MRI scan. However, did you know that certain transdermal patches can also be harmful? The Institute for Safe Medication Practices has reported burns occurring with certain nicotine-delivery patches and nitroglycerin patches. GREAT INFO!! That is a concern, as many meds are now taken trans-dermal with patches. You'd think there would be a warning to all Immaging centers about these patches causing burns during MRI. If possible, post the article on our "Articles of Importance" Board. Thank you Shiela, Hugs
