My information is that these trials for first line treatment began on a limited basis (until there was more availability of the drug when the new facility in Vacaville got up and running) in 1998, once approved by the FDA. I had read of them in a mag called "Mamm" and asked my onc. In 2000 we had the trials started in the Seattle area at 2 or more centers, and mine was included. I opted for the other trials, even though I qualified and knew about Herceptin and how it could possibly help me. Since my tumor was small I hoped that the spread would be halted (even though I had 5 of 18 nodes positive and 3 more with micro spread). That is where the education provided by this site would have given me more info to put into my "hopper." I did not know anyone else with Her2 positive cancer at that time.
