Jackie,
Just got out of the hospital yesterday, similar, but different. On xeloda since Feb. 2004, & Herceptin. Had hand/foot syndrome 2x, so had recently taken a 3 week brake instead of 1, then back on a lower dose of xeloda fo 2 weeks, off of Herceptin for 3 wks per cardio since my heart function decreased to 50%, as a precaution.
Well, I was sick for 3 days last wk, thought I had flu as my hubby was sick with cold/flu-like symptoms. Went to onc last Thursday & admitted to hospital that pm with DX of dehydration, low blood pressure. Next morning went into cardiac tamponade (pericardial sac filled with fluid) passed out and the heart stopped at arrival to OR, 1 liter of fluid was drained off heart - plus they left a temp drain in for 2 days while in cardiac ICU. Then I also had CT while in ICU & was told I have 3cm cerebeller brain tumor & possibly lung lining/parenchymal involvement??
Don' know if this is related to Xeloda, but your situation is very coincidental. Why did they say it is something related to you?? I will be bringing this up to my docs.
Glad you are better, I am also better. Now loking at cyberknife for the brain tumor (rad-onc wanted WBR, but thanks to this sight I'm checking out all options). I think my husband thought I was going to die and he's called in the family, which is okay--giving me a lot of support. Sorry - so long. Thanks for posting. Hugs, Velva
