There is a test done on from the tumor for stage I/II, node neg and er+. The company name is Genomichealth and the test is
www.oncotypedx.com.
They did a large study with 668 patients, this test was done in conjunction with the NASBP, which is supported by NCI.
There claim is that they look at gene expression and that in there study they had better predictablity on recurs. On the web site they also talk about Tamoxifen and how they can predict if that will work for you. I am not hormone + so this is all new to me, some of the verbage, etc. I do like however to keep up on what the topic of the board is.
One statement they wrote to me is, "RT-PCR is a technology to analyze gene expression of several hundred genes simultaneously, and has a wide dynamic range. It is sensitive, specific and highly repoducable."
