I know this has probably been rehashed and rehashed, but even when I look at a Genetech site, I'm still unclear and it was probably when I had my ultrasound today and a comment was made by my ultrasound tech that got me thinking about this...If I'm finished with treatment, what are my cells doing now and is the Her2 oncogene done misbehaving or what? I think what got me concerned was when I said that 1/3 of node-neg. women can have a recurrence and my ultrasound tech said that is because it depends on the precursors of the cancer (maybe the prognostic indicators). Actually, this leads to two questions now -- one being that a recurrence could occur from a metastasis of the original cancer and the second question being that of what's happening to the her2 gene situation in the body that started it? Thanks to those of you who do understand this.
Appreciated,
Vicki
