Has anyone had a BMT (bone marrow transplant) on this board? I heard this past weekend from attending an IBC (inflammatory breast cancer) group in Mass. that BMT does not work on BC but it does on IBC!!! It seems there is one oncologist that refers her IBC patients at least for a consult. I just wanted to throw this out for everyone to see. I know there are only a few of us IBC on this board. I had not heard this. Does anyone have any insight on this? Hugs, Sandy

I had a BMT back in October 1997 at City of Hope. I had a 30% chance of recurence. August 2004, my cancer camr back. I guess it didn't work for me.

Sandy, I had an autologous stem cell transplant (same as self BMT) in 2001, followed by 12 weeks of Herceptin. I was in remission at time of transplant, & recurred in 6 mos. to skin on chest/neck & lymph nodes. I don't have IBC. Six mos. is my normal recurrence time.
