Wow, as a cancer survivor I can't fathom leaving DCIS in the body and just monitoring it. Yikes! Even low-risk DCIS.

But getting 1000 women to participate is mind boggling. From my reading Aussiegirl's post and online the biopsy sample is like a crap shoot. It's like a box of chocolates - you never know what your are going to get! It is just a sample and not the entire lesion - which may be heterogeneous.

I read in the NCCN guidelines after DCIS surgeries they find Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in 25% of the specimens.

Maybe it is just me but I'm just cringing at this study.

I see LORIS is a poster at SABCS, along with another study that Sarah & I would find interesting. I posted below. The conference starts today. I hope we learn some interesting and helpful information from it.
