Okay Lee etc. I don't have to tell you that you're wrong ... you already
know that you're wrong .... something else important happened on May 5, 1961. The Louisiana Purchase answer is correct.

May's birthstone is an emerald according to everyone but the home shopping network which think it is a green colored cubic zirconium.

The flower of May is lillies of the valley.

May 30, 1431 is the date of the canonization of Jean de' Arc. They must have used real cannons because she didn't survive the ceremony.

May 12, 1907 was the day Katherine Hepburn was born. Thank God for that, otherwise Humphrey Bogart would be all alone on the African Queen and the movie wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

Alright, have it your way. I give up! On May 5th, 1961 Alan Shephard, aboard the Freedom 7 space capsule was launched into space making Mr. Shephard the first American to miss Leave it to Beaver because he wasn't on this planet. And it was a real good episode too! The dog did it.

Lee etc.,

They are all correct except for May 12 ... wasn't looking for
Katherine Hepburn's birthday ... something else important
happened that day.

I'll give you a hint: If the answer was about grandmothers then
I'm sure you would get it because you are very close to your
granny ... but it's not about grandmothers, it's about _______s.

It's not about grandmother's it's about __________?

Big Red the one-eyed logger? It's Big Red's date of birth! Man that is one obscure fact. I don't know how anyone but me would get that one! What do I win?

Okay, maybe it is the first Mother's Day, but how can that compete with Katherine Hepburn's and Big Red's date of birth in terms of importance?

It's the first Mother's Day. I'm not sure when Big Red's birthday is ... I'm
sure your granny knows ...

One would be inclined to think that a Foolio would be from Washington D.C., but that wouldn't be nice, so it was a good thing it never occurred to me, but a foolio is from Minnesota, don't ya know.

That's correct Lee etc. I'm glad you held back and didn't mention

Re: Lee's BIG BIG BIG Quiz Thread

Time for a brand new quiz! Yeah! This quiz is one where I give you the wrong answer (According to Pink Girl I am gifted at giving wrong answers so I might as well just go with it) and you have to come up with the right answer.

This quiz is about misheard song lyrics. Remember when you first heard Jimi Hendrix sing "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" and said to yourself, "Ummmmmmmm..."? Anyways, this quiz is about hearing the wrong lyrics to the song and your task is to guess the song and give the correct lyrics. Boy that sounds complicated, but I am sure this might actually be easier than some of my other quizzes. It helps if you say the bad lyrics out loud.

Remember, song and correct lyrics.

1. Creedance Clearwater Revival didn't sing, "There's a bathroom on the right".

2. The Rolling Stones didn't sing, "Goodbye, Groovy toothpaste".

3. Bob Marley didn't sing "Pajamas, I want to wear them with you".

4. The Who didn't sing, "No one knows what its like to be Batman".

5. John Denver wasn't singing to his wife, "Let me drown in your bathtub".

6. Depeche Mode didn't sing, "Your own personal Cheese Whiz" although I wish they did.

7. Pink Floyd didn't sing, "My hands smelled just like tuba lube".

8. Cat Stevens didn't sing, "The first car is the tea bus".

9. Supertramp didn't sing, "Give a little bit, give a little bit of your tongue to me".

10. Aerosmith didn't sing, "Lovin an alligator".

11. Cheap Trick didn't sing, "I'd love you to love me, I'm begging you to bed me".

12. Heart didn't sing, "I'm gonna pour gravy on you".

13. The Beatles didn't sing, "The girl with Colitis goes by".

14. Bob Dylan didn't sing, "The ants are, my friends, they're blowin in the wind."

15. Iron Butterfly didn't sing, "In a glob of Valveeta, honey."

16. The clash didn't sing, "The sheep don't like it, Rock the cat box".

17. Def Leopard didn't sing, "Pour some shook up ramen".

18. Nirvanna didn't sing, "Here we are now, in containers".

19. The Eagles didn't sing, "Desperado, you've been outright offensive, for so long now".

20. Queen didn't sing, "Scallaboosh, Scallaboosh, will you do the banned tango".

21. Deep Purple didn't sing, "Small cousin Walter is firing this guy".

22. The Foo Fighters didn't sing, "There goes my Hero, he's old and hairy".

23. Cyndi Lauper is pretty unusual but she didn't sing, "Girls just want fat bums".

24. For old time country western fans, Hank Williams didn't sing "Why don't you love my like you used to do? Why do you treat me like a one eyed Jew?".

Re: Lee's BIG BIG BIG Quiz Thread

Good job Chrisy! You got them all correct except no. 3 and no. 19. As for 'Ooops! Sorry I got to go back to work', explain to your boss that you are doing this for science. What enlightened boss wouldn't understand that?
