Multiple red dots on body...help!
2 days ago I noticed a WHOLE BUNCH of these elevated tiny red dots on both legs. They are not pus-filled and I see no blisters. There are no other symptoms such as ichiness, tingling, burning or anything. The next day these dots spread to my thighs. Today I noticed a very few on the top of my left hand and inside my forearm.
i am putting on Aveenos hydrocortisone cream on it and taking some benedryl at night thinking it might be some kind of allergic reaction to something.
I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary and the only meds I am taking is Femara and Actinol.
It feels like some kind of contact dermititis, but I have no idea what I might have come into contact with.
Have any of you ever had this happen to you?
Maryanne

Dear Maryann -
I had something like this only with some itching that started during my last hospital stay. The staff there decided it could be from the strong cleaning agent they use for the gowns and sheets. It took about a week to go away once I left that hospital.
I get contact dermatitis from plants such as grasses and juniper bushes. Mild itching comes with the rash.
Good luck - it may just be a one time fluke.

Multiple red dots on body...help!
Do you have any known allergies? Are they using any new cleaning products where you work? Have you been to a doctor's office lately? Are you using any new cosmetics or soap? Is there something new in your environment?
Do you want to have an allergy test? You aren't limited to skin allergy tests. They can do a blood test for allergies if you prefer. Do you want to see a dermatologist? If you don't know anyone in Hilo I have a good one in Honolulu. She is popular, so she may not be taking new patients. You could check if you are interested.
I find the older I get the more allergies I seem to be accumulating.I am going to have an allergy test next week. My landlord renovated my bathroom and I might be allergic to some stuff they used. I have had more symptoms since then. I know I am allergic to latex. There is latex in some paint. Lots of fun.

Steph and Elaine...thank you.
Elaine, in answer to all your questions....no...
But I did make an apt with a dermatologist to ck it out. Wont be seeing him till the end of May though since I am leaving for CA, Oregon, and then Alaska and won't be back will May 25th.
Hopefully it will all disappear by then and I can cancel my apt.

Multiple red dots on body...help!
No problem. Maybe your oncologist in California can suggest someone to see earlier than the end of May.
I just happened to remember an experience I had with you. I had red bumps around my neck and upper right shoulder. I showed it to the doc who couldn't figure it out. The allergist couldn't figure it out. I happened to see something in the drug insert of one of my medications about talking to a pharmacist if I got an unusual reaction to the drug. I called the pharmacist who explained that since I had recently changed from the brand name of the drug to the generic brand it could be that.
The drugs are usually the same in generic brands, but the binders and fillers (usually powders) are different and I might be allergic to the powder in the generic brand. I took the generic brand drug for testing. You guessed it. I was allergic to the kind of powder used as a filler or binder in the drug. Needless to say I asked my doc to change back to the brand name drug. I was fine after that.

One possibility as to why I got all those d--- red dots and tell me if you think this is a logical possibility....
I take quite a few bubble baths. I LOVE bubble baths and take maybe 4 or so a wk.
Maybe my skin had enough exposure. Plus I don't usually shower after to rinse off with clear water.

Could well be the culprit. Those bubble baths are not good for your skin. Try rinsing off after the bath, or better, don't take bubble baths for at least a week and see if things improve. Try a hypo-allergenic formula if you want to resume after that week.

Thanks all for the helpful info.
Update: it is getting better. I am using some hydrocortisone creme (Aveeno) and taking epson salt baths. I am skipping the bb baths too.
AND...get this....(to narrow the bubble bath mystery) I was using this bubble bath I bought from the health food store for quite some time. Then about a wk or so before my outbreak, I started using a bb from Sefora that my husband gave me. It was way bubblier and had a nice scent. I bet that was what did it!!

During my chemo, I had petechiae (little red spots from broken blood vessels) on my legs caused from having a very low platelet count. No itching or pain.

I have experienced the same thing recently...the broken vessels (maybe two under skin) and little red dots on the legs...when I went to my 6-month follow up Monday my platelets were at 104 (average is 150 to 350 according to their lab) and I'm having the blood draw again on Monday.
