Thanks R.B. Happy New Year to you as well. We plan on doing our usual - a quiet New Year's Eve. We go to church first at 6:00. Then we go to dinner and either go to a movie or rent one. This year it was "rent one" because there was nothing playing we wanted to see. We were hoping "The Bucket List" with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson would be here but it isn't yet.
Happy 2008 to all - God's Blessings of Peace to each of you as we journey down this road called life.

Happy New Year!
Growing up, my Mom's tradition was to always have pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Eve (she always cooked a pork roast in the oven) and as kids we were always made to take at least one bite, lol, as it would bring us good luck. Nikki, my wife, and I always continued that tradition; however, some years we would have kielbasa, and some years beer-brauts and sauerkraut, it's all pork, right? This year I think I'm doing Italian sausage in a skillet and sauer kraut. Uh oh, I just realized this whole topic is probably unsettling to alot of you, I'm sorry, but if you want to reply, I was curious as to the traditions you guys observe. Fight the good fight, Bill

Happy New Year to All! Thanks RB for thinking of this, and your little animated icons here and on the Christmas thread are cute.
Not unsettling Bill, happy to share....We don't seem to have a food tradition now that I think about it, except maybe pizza. We TRY to stay up till midnight, but usually wimp out before then. Otherwise, we just enjoy sleeping in the next morning.
But pork roast sounds so good, I think I'll have to fix it tomorrow! We love it and haven't had it in awhile, so thank you

My mother's tradition is also pork and saurkaut. We have fresh ham roast but now that 2 of my daughters are vegetarians, we are having penne alla vodka on New Year's day. We are going to a dinner party at our lawyer's house on New Year's eve. I am looking forward to it.
Happy New Year to all my Sisters and Brothers here.
Love to all

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
We used to have a full house with our and the children's friends in the evening with lots of food. Not anymore. This year a lunch meal out with our family in this area, then a quiet afternoon and evening with our 16 mo gr'son while the parents have fun.
Blessings to all of you.

Thank you RB...
Tony and I have our regular New Years "date night" tonight. The Grand Rapids Childrens Museum has a party for the children from 6-8...it is SO fun. They have party favors for the children, food, and the usual activities. Then at 8 they have the ball drop (a disco ball). He and I have been going for the past 4 years, it is a lot of fun. May ALL of you have a blessed, healthy and happy 2008 (as well as many years to come). Take care and God bless.

2007 ended on a sad note as my oldest granddaughter passed away afterr fighting kidney failure for almost 10 years. She was only 33, and her husband had divorced her when she got sick. No children. My daughter, her mom, is taking it really hard and we are worried about her survival. The funeral was December 27 in Arizona, so we just got back from the trip. Not a fun way to end the year, but we all know she is in a better place and no longer suffering. So we will have a very quiet at-home New Year's Eve, just my husband and I and our little Basenji Keesha. Maybe some snacks and a bottle of sparkling apple juice! And we will make it to when the midnight ball falls in NY and then go to bed. Not exciting but we are so filled with gratitude for each other, our comparitive health and all our family. Oh, yes! The good news: our next oldest granddaughter gave birth to her 4th child, 2nd son, on Dec. 29, so life goes on. We have another great-grandchild due in mid-January, so at that point we will have the same amount of grandchildren as great grandchildren: 32 of each! Life is good and there is a lot of love to go around. I wish you all, each one, a wonderful new year with greatly improved health of mind, body and spirit. Hugs, Tricia

Happy new year to all and hope 2008 will be a better year for all the good people in the world. We go hiking at night and drink on top of the mountain with music and dance.

Happy New Year To My Family...
New Years Eve will be spent watching movies and reminiscing about what a great life we share together. The menu will consist of Tequila Lime & Basil Chicken served over a bed of rice accompanied by side of broccoli, sweet corn and snow peas. We shall share memories and pray for our lost soldiers whether they were taken from us with breast cancer or not; there are many loves we have lost in our lives and New Years is just another moment in time that we make a special evening paying tributes to those we have lost and those who are still here. Sometimes we have had to set up an alarm just so we would not miss bringing in the new year!! Gotta stop the movies to watch the ball drop, right??? LOL!!
I am wishing that 2008 brings to us all which we yearn. May we find OUR cure or something quite close to it. So here is to another year, may we all find what we are looking for!!>>Believe51

New Year Traditions...Bill what a great idea!
In the early years of our marriage my husband and would go out with a bunch of friends....then A.C. (after children) we began to have dinners with parents and bring in the New Year at home. Now our parents are no longer with us...so we are a small group..my son and his girlfriend, & close friends...
We always serve as one of our appetizer's small franks wrapped in dough on New Years eve...on New Years day I make a pork roast with sweet potatoes...so Bill, there must be something with the pork. Let's hope
that it brings us all the very best in Health!
Here's to traditions!
Happy New Year to All!
Hugs,
Jean

Quiet night ahead, dh has to get up early to be at work tomorrow, he works retail. He'll go to bed and I'm going to sit here at computer scanning and printing recipes for my older 3 kids who wanted copies of my recipes. Much faster than writing them all by hand.
