The Story Behind the Picture
In 2002, shortly after this support group was formed, Genentech found out about Christine's miraculous response to Herceptin and this group.
They invited us to South San Francisco in order to take Christine's picture so that they could include it in their 2001 Annual Report.
The entire trip reminded me of the old television show "Queen for a Day". A limo picked us up at the airport and took us to Genentech's headquarters where they treated us to lunch. After lunch, we traveled to the bluffs overlooking the Pacific where the photographers were waiting her arrival. When this picture was taken, they had already shot about 10 rolls of film in front of the house and were setting up to shoot some more pictures in the rear of the home. We were actually waiting in front of the house unaware that they were photographing us horsing around.
Of the entire 18 rolls that they took, all they used 2 or 3 unposed pictures in this sequence, mainly because it showed Christine's dimple. They also placed out picture on a giant billboard in front of their corporate headquarters and titled it: "Christine Giggles".
We spent the rest of the weekend in San Francisco and turned it into a 2nd mini-honeymoon.
Regards
Joe

Heard about the Billboard
Hi Christine and Joe,
When I first met Susan E. at a nail salon in Brooklyn N.Y. she told me about this Board and that Christine's photo was on a Billboard. It was meant to be that I would meet her as she heard me talking with another one of the ladies and then offered her guidance and pointed me in the direction of you and Christine and this extraordinary Support Group. My husband and I also had a mini moon three weeks ago as we were married in the Church after being married in a civil ceremony nearly 15 years ago. It was a most wonderful day.
All the Best,
Liz J.

Joe and Christine, you well deserve the ROYAL TREATMENT! Beautiful story to go w/the beautiful picture, limo and all. That gladdens my heart. I always tell people I should be a poster child for Herceptin, but I'm so glad to be honored to be a part of Christine's and your life! I tell everyone about this site, and they take out paper and pen and write HER2support.org, eager and elated to go to this haven and send along many others as well. Bless you guys! Many, many times over...
