taxotere or flu or what

Hi All
Have had 2 rounds of weekly taxotere and herceptin after lapatinib failed. I have felt like I have the flu or sinus or something the whole time,\. A hibnt of a sore throat- tired- heady and achey. not sure if I have a bug or just the chemo side effects. What do you think?

love

Linda, I did TCH...6 rounds. But out of the 3 drugs there is no doubt in my mind the Taxotere was by far the worse for me personally. It caused major aches and pains every where in my body. I played heck forcing myself to eat...everything sounded awful and tasted awful. I think every joint in my body hurt. So I would blame some of your flu like symptoms on Taxotere, & the herceptin will cause sinus problems and runny nose. So you can blame them both. When I started on them I felt just like you are. So hang in there...it won't be long and all this will be behind you.

Linda, I haven't had Taxotere, but I did have Taxol way back when and vividly remember the feet, joint and muscle aches and pains...no fun at all. My onc prescribed a nerve medication called Neurontin which along with Tylenol really helped. Maybe you could check with your onc to see if he can prescribe something.
Hope you're feeling better soon, it's difficult to have faith the drugs are working when they make us feel sick! Take care,

<3 Lolly

Herceptin has served as the "Backbone" of my treatment strategy for over 6 years, giving me great quality of life. In 2005, I was privileged to participate in the University of Washington/Seattle HER2 Vaccine Trial.
