Just saying hello
Just wanted you all to know despite not posting, I have been keeping up and continue to pray for each & every one of you. I recently had to have a total hip replacement after much pain & numerous tests. The good news is that everything has worked out well and I am in physical therapy and rebuilding muscles . The bad news is I now suffer from lymphadema which I did not have after surgery or during treatment. I have read some good advice and hope to purchase the Lebedmethod DVD.
Take Care.
Mary

So sorry to hear about your hip replacement but you will probably do very well with it and it will get rid of the horrible pain you were having. What a shame...to make it through surgery, treatment and all and now with this most recent surgery, develop lymphodema. This is definitely the place to come to for good advice. I wish you a continued positive recovery.

Mary-
good luck with the lymphadema - i had a little minor swelling start in my chest area, and i went to a specialized therapist and everything resolved. but even if it doesn't resolve, physical therapy by someone qualified may be helpful.
regards,

Mary,
Glad your surgery went well but so sorry to hear that you have developed lymphedema. I too suffer from it and I have the "Lebed Method" dvd which really helps with the lymphedema. Also my local rec center has a Lebed Method Class which I go to every Monday. Best of luck to you.

Thanks to Tousled I also got the Lebed Method DVD. I do a weird combo of the exercises from the DVD, some Manual Lymph Drainage all while walking my 30-45 minutes on the tread mill. It's a lot to do all at one time but it works out okay for me. I have not seen a reduction of my Lymph but I am in the crucial time of radiation, so I don't expect great results right now. My surgeon yesterday recommended the Lympha Press. Has anyone had success with it?
You will really enjoy the Lebed Method, it's simple and all the people on the DVD seem so real.

Thanks to all of you. I am currently in therapy for my hip I mentioned it to my PT this week and during pool therapy she added some arm movements for the lymphadema. Will be talking to my onc. soon and investing in the DVD. Also, praying that getting back into exercising on a regular basis will get the fluids moving for some pain relief.
