So sorry!
I am in shock to read of the passing of your dear Mom. I know you did all you could and stood by her to the end. May you bath yourself in the precious memories you will have of her. It must give you comfort to know this disease did not get her. Will be interested, when you are able, to let us know what really happened. I think it is wonderful you are helping your friend out during a time that you must be low on energy yourself.
